Disappointed at your child's results at school? Not able to comprehend the complexities of math, or any other subject? Don't worry! There is help available in plenty in the world of internet. All you have to do is to find the right tutor. And no, you don't have to shell out fanciful sums like $ 40 or 50. There are any number of teachers available online who can help your child. The system works like this. Using the internet, you connect to the tutor you choose for your child, and an online tutor takes your child's problems, and explains it in clear and concise terms. If your child has questions, they can be asked and they would be answered in a language your child can understand. There is also a virtual classroom with a whiteboard. Using a digital pen, your child can write out the problem or seek clarification from the tutor. The tutor in turn writes out the how, why, and what of the problem, and goes on to give step by step advice on how to resolve the problem. This is true not only of one subject, but of nearly all the subjects that your child is learning, and it does not matter which grade the child is in. There is a tutor for every subject, and that tutor instead of simply giving out answers, explains the nuts and bolts of what, why, when, where and how! Your child is not constrained by time. I recommend India, because it has a history of placing great emphasis on education, and also it is good English speaking and writing country. They have a vast pool of trained manpower, and as you have probably noticed, a large number of them are today heading many of the Fortune 500 companies, apart from being senior executives; you can find a good tutor there. Frankly, I chose this site for my own children after sifting through hundreds of websites. After the first twenty I gave up. By chance I happened on this site, and while 'culling' it, or reading it, it aroused enough interest in me to open it up. It gave me a free trial, and I acted as a student who did not know the rudiments of math, chemistry and biology! I tried other sites too at the same time, giving the same problem everywhere. Frankly, I found the Indian site to be very good and very responsive. I posed the most difficult questions that I could think of, and believe it or not, the tutor at the other end was very quiet at the beginning, and helping me solve the problems, and then added a comment, that I was not the 5th grade student that I pretended I was, or I was a genius! What suited my child may not necessarily suit your child. You have to try and find which subjects you need tuitions in, and accordingly chose a tutor. There are tutors on the Internet who specialize in teaching one particular subject only, and there are others, like the one I mentioned above, which provide tutors in practically every subject. The best part is that these tutors know the syllabus of American and English schools, and are pretty proficient at it. I would not be surprised if they knew more about the syllabus than you and me! I would not be surprised if these tutors were educated at some point of time in their career in our countries. As I mentioned before, there are three ways of learning in this kind of online process. One is of course the keyboard (I am sure your kid must know how to type!), the virtual blackboard, for which you need to invest in a digital pen, and of course Skype. I am not recommending brands here, but Skype does provide a free PC to PC communication via the communication ports of your computer. At some point of time, it becomes necessary to communicate with your tutor, because children often lose interest if they are not able to hear a real "voice" speaking to them. There is one advice that I forgot and nearly lost a lot of money before I became a little more alert. In the garb of tutors, there are, as in other fields, scamsters, who pose as tutors or tutors' agencies on the Net. Beware of them. How to make out which one is real or not? Check them by doing what I did. Ask for a free trial. Choose some math, chemistry, geography or whatever subject you like, and pose questions to them. If their answer is unsatisfactory or does not sound genuine, stay away. Find another and start all over again. Best of Luck and good wishes!
